Question of the Day: Strong Women Recording Artistis

What female recording artist do you think sends girls/women strong positive messages?

I was listening to Avril Lavigne “Under My Skin” the other day and always get pumped up when I hear it.  It makes me want to go out and run or go and get out the Tae Kwon Do kicking paddle. 

The songs are such girl power music, I think.  Girls who listen to it can get that girls/women are strong and won’t be pushed around by anyone and maybe a little attitude too.

Brothers and Sisters Tommy missing.

Okay, I admit it I’m addicted to the series Brothers and Sisters, as well as a few other guilty pleasures.  So, you’ve heard the rumors that actor Balthazar Getty who plays Tommy Walker is being kicked off the show for bad behavior, and now he’s missing and the family can’t find him.  What do you think is the actor being booted from the show?  And how about Kitty’s (Calista Flockhart) new ‘friend,’ dad at the park?  It’s exciting.  Anyone love the show!

What's this I hear, the OCT-MOM is to get her own reality show?  Surprise, surprise...  Who didn't see that one coming?  Are you shocked?  Do you think this is sickening?  What ever you think, I bet like a car accident you'll be slowing down and watching at least once, like mostly everyone else.  So, what do you really think about her getting a show?  At least it will help pay for her kids right. 

Clean House

I admit it I love to watch Clean House.  And I love both versions, the US version with the people who have terribly unorganized houses and the British version where the houses are just disgustingly dirty.  These shows hold several purposes for me but one guilty reason is they make me feel like my unorganized (I wouldn’t say dirty) self is definitely not the worst out there.

I also like to see people change from the worst situation where Clean House and (the person who calls up initially) steps up to help them when they are so overwhelmed in their lives,  then to see the beautiful designed results and the people with a new start.  With the British version I love to see the same thing the transformation in people’s lives but with this show they also share great cleaning tips. 

Of course the parts in between when they have to decide what to give up and realize that it is better to get rid of things then to be overwhelmed.  I can relate to these people since I tend to hold onto things and our house is only getting smaller and we need to purge some of our stuff.  I think I’m ready to get rid of stuff though. 

I guess I have to remember that before I was a mom I really had no clue how to save on things and would always buy things brand new and not on sale.  Now I would go to a second hand store or check out the fabulous garage sales that are going on now.  I haven’t started that yet but I will be soon checking out the designer kids clothes.  I guess when you’re not a naturally organized person it’s just a constant battle to work on.  That’s the case with all of my flaws and to forgive myself for not being perfect.

Witty Lines on Desperate Housewives

Ex-model Gabby tries to park in a handicapped parking space with her husband Carlos’s handicapped sticker.  She is confronted by an upset handicapped man.

He says, “Lady you got a lot of nerve I had to park way in the back next to the dumpster.”

Gabby responds, “Oh don’t play victim with me I have to walk in heels all day you get to sit in a chair and roll.”

Then she gets into a physical confrontation and pushes his wheel chair in the parking lot.

Gabby says, “Its official I’m going to hell,” as she runs for her car and then drives away.

Its lines like that, which make us fans of the show.  That and the glamour, funny expressions, and great story lines.  We’ve got all of the different wives: Gabby the glamorous ex-model who loves to shop and is now a mom who’s gained weight but underneath all of that she is still the glamorous one, Susan: The clumsy, sweet, cute, and accident prone wife who often puts her foot in her mouth and can’t cook, Bree the perfect mom and wife who wants everyone to know that, Edie the sexy one who is often sleeping with the other wives ex’s, and Lynette’s who is always trying to do it all and be tough with three boys a baby, and a step daughter.

 Together they get into all sorts of fun trouble for us to enjoy.  We of course even have the sexy husbands or boyfriends to enjoy and we all have our favorites.  Is yours John the young gardener who Gabby had an affair with or Carlos her husband who she divorced and remarried or one of the other men on Wisteria Lane?  Who ever your favorite is we’ll have to keep watching to see what happens to our favorite characters next.
